You are increasingly - and better - informed about aesthetic medicine. By reading articles, listening to programmes, following beautistas on social networks, daring to cross the threshold of centres like ours, you refine your knowledge and your opinion on the subject.
However, in talking to Forever's community of customers, followers and friends, some limiting beliefs persist. Especially about Botox.
For a long time the media have spoken pejoratively about Botox by showing women's faces with ultra-inflated lips, duckbill mouths, faces transformed (not to say deformed in some cases) by an excess of filling injections or implants. I should point out that these are often men or women who evolve in the world of show business, a world that is far removed from our reality, and which is made up of people who have a particular relationship with their image and the perception of their body.
That being said, Botox is not a filler, and has absolutely no effect on facial volumes. It acts on the muscles responsible for our facial expressions, by putting them partially and temporarily at rest. Expression lines are thus reduced. Botulinum toxin is mainly injected into the upper third of the face: into the glabella muscles (responsible for frown lines), the forehead muscles (responsible for horizontal forehead wrinkles) and the periorbital muscles (responsible for crow's feet).
Botox can be injected in the perioral area, i.e. close to the lips, but not with the aim of swelling them. The indication in this area is the attenuation and prevention of vertical lines on the upper lip. It can be injected around the mandible to beautify the oval of the face or to treat bruxism and on the neck to erase wrinkles when they appear due to the contraction of the muscle in this anatomical area.
At the beginning of its use in aesthetic medicine, Botox was proposed to treat glabellar wrinkles (frown lines), forehead wrinkles and crows' feet. This first concept admittedly resulted in freezing the upper face.
But since then, its use has been refined and the result can be personalised, according to the patient's wishes. By choosing the appropriate injection points and the number of units injected for each point, it is possible to modulate the tone and strength of the muscles. It is therefore possible, if the desire is to reduce wrinkles without paralysing muscular activity, to preserve the expressiveness of the face. The face appears more relaxed and the eyes more open.
