TCA peel

Intense peeling, anti-ageing

What is a TCA peel?

TCA is a trichloroacetic acid-based peel that the doctor applies to your skin to induce exfoliation of the skin down to the junction between the epidermis and the dermis. The action of a TCA is therefore more intense than a fruit acid peel, and its results are more impressive. The concentration of TCA increases with each session (from 15% to 30%). We recommend a course of 3 or 4 sessions.

Benefits

The TCA peel is intended for patients who are generally over 40 years old and who have wrinkles, age spots and sometimes significant acne scars. This peel fades - or even erases - brown spots caused by the sun (lentigo and melasma / pregnancy mask). The "new skin" effect can be seen in the unified and brightened appearance of the skin, its smoother and tighter appearance, as well as its fresher and rosier tone.

Recommendations

It is recommended to discontinue the use of potentially irritating creams such as retinol serums and glycolic acid cleansers or creams for one week prior to a TCA. After the treatment - and for 30 days afterwards - a sunblock 50+ should be applied to protect the treated areas.

Any questions?

Please don’t hesitate to book a consultation with one of our doctors to discuss any of our treatments.

What are the possible side effects of an ACT?

The day after a session you may feel tightness, dryness and discomfort, and redness. Your doctor will recommend a soothing cream to use at home. It is likely that your skin will peel for up to 5 days after the peel; if this happens, you should not pull at the small peels, but rather use a gentle scrub.

Can this peel be done in summer?

Our doctors recommend avoiding any exposure to the sun before, during and after the 3-session peel. Indeed, TCA is a medical peel that is performed on skin that is not tanned. It is therefore preferable to wait until autumn to plan your TCA peeling sessions.

Can the TCA peel be used on the body?

Yes, the TCA peel can be applied to the décolleté, the hands and even the upper back if there is significant photoaging (brown age spots, wrinkled skin). In some cases, it is indicated for fading scars. Talk to one of our doctors during a consultation.
