It's sunny, it's hot, it's summer, it's great, but... I sweat a lot and the smell bothers me. So I got into the habit of using a strong deodorant that contains aluminium salts, because the others don't work on me.
Knowing that I am uncomfortable with the idea of smelling bad under my arms, my sister Cyrille convinced me to try the botox axillary. I knew that our doctors practice this treatment at Forever Institute but I thought it was only for clients with hyperhidrosis - a medical condition of excessive sweat production. Well no, it's for everyone; I'm proof of that.
This is how the injection session went. I applied anaesthetic gel 1 hour beforehand because apparently without it, it hurts. Before the injections, Dr Benadiba drew a pencil on my armpits. In all, about thirty injections per side. Very fast, in 10 minutes it was done, and I didn't even feel the needle.
It took a few days for the effect to show, and since then - incredibly - I don't feel like I'm sweating under my arms anymore. After a week I switched to a light, organic deodorant, and when I saw that it was enough, I even dared not to use anything at all. What a liberation! No more halos. And no more white traces of deodorant on my clothes.
I must admit I had a fear that my body would compensate for the reduced perspiration from the armpits by sweating more from another area. But I don't feel that this is the case.
Now, the question I ask myself is will I do it again in 4 months? Of course I sweat less in winter but the smell still bothers me, so why not?
